Recently I've been able to see Heather Bailey's new fabric line, up close and personal. "Online" I thought it was a miss. Secretly, I was suprised that such a tantalizing artist could miss it so badly...nope, I'm pias, and it's the translation of color on the computer that doesn't do it any justice. Pop Garden is fantstic! The color combos are bold and just right. So don't be fooled by the pc, it is fabulous.

I Dream In Patterns

Lately when I wake up in the morning I have a vision of a fabric pattern. They are in my head first thing, and then they fade and I spend the rest of the day trying to hang onto it. Isn't that weird (and fun)? I wonder if I should try to draw them, or try to recreate them in photoshop?? They really are fun. I would love to design fabric. I haven't the foggiest idea where to begin. There is software I'm sure I need to learn how to use, and who do you talk to, where do you start?? Do you approach a company? Maybe I should ask these ladies. (My favorite indie fabric designers.)

Just Surfin' The Web

The girls are gone for the afternoon, and I have made a lasagna, and cleaned the pantry floor (I MEAN CLEANED...ie SCRUBBED, MOPPED, THROWN AWAY, ETC) and I'm totally indulging in some web surfing. I want many things. First and foremost I am grateful that I truly do NOT want for anything. What a blessing. I am grateful and a good steward, but if I were indulgent and could get what I wanted when I wanted (I would be spoiled) I would get...

These have been on my wish list for some time, and I'm sure I will get them all eventually. In the mean time I've been listening to pod casts lately. I really love craftsanity right now. It's all these really great interviews with fun people in the DIY industry. Of course I particularly like the one with Amy Karol, Denyse Schmidt, and Claudine Hellmuth. Some of my favorite artist!

Other than that I've been busy with craft camp this week. We are having lots of fun making duct tape wallets, shadow boxes, polymer clay beads/projects, and macrame projects! Cute group of kiddos!

Everything Nice

I'm busy getting ready for summer camps. There are samples to make, registration sheets to deliver, and supplies to buy. I'm very excited! Jed's Summer Camps will have lots of cute projects and tons of even cuter kiddos.

Okay I have successfully lost an hour and a half of my life to this "short" post. :) Blogs-friend or foe?

The Stack

Aaaaahhhaaa! Aaaaaahhhhhhaaaa! Fabric. Spring. Fabric. Spring.

Spring. Spring. Spring. Amazing fabrics, and it just makes you want to sew.



Here is a scrumptious-spring stack of my own. Like most seamstresses I am in love with fabric. It is the closest thing I have in my life to an addiction. You can liken it to the drunken Irish father who spends his families wages, intended for food, shelter, milk and clothing, on a pint in the pub. I can't even walk into a fabric store unless I have money allotted to spend. I ration how many visits a month I will make to Jo Ann's, High Fashion Fabrics, or online fabric stores. Because I will spend otherwise intended money. And in every other area of my life I am a "window shopper" and what others might consider "cheap". What is it?

I mean I don't think I need a recovery group, or anything...but it owns a portion of my brain and certainly my heart.



Do any other seamstresses do this:

-Buy fabric and patterns with visions of a project to do. But fold it neatly into some sort of storage and save it. Either because you never take the time to finish it, or because you are saving it? And I'm not talking one or two projects...

-I also hoard fabric. If I love it of course I buy it. But if I really love it, I probably won't ever cut it. That might be a personal thing, not a seamstress thing. I also "save" (ie: not wear) my favorite clothes. I save them in my closet??? What is that?

-And scraps...how many of us save our scraps, but have no earthly idea what to use them for? I have many uses for a decent sized scrap, but I get ridiculous sometimes. I mean the green bean size scrap SHOULD be thrown away. Let it go, man, let it go.
